I believe that everyone has a role model in their lives who inspires them to push forward and strive for the best. For me, that special individual is my father, who has played a crucial role in nurturing and honing me into the person that I am today. In order to encapsulate my father's monumental

impact on my identity - both as an individual and an artist, as well as my deep sense of admiration for him, I decided to build an impressionistic portrait of him out of wooden blocks. By using these rigid geometric blocks, I hope to convey and capture an essence of firmness, authority and perseverance - qualities that my father possess.

This work serves as an expression of love and gratitude towards my Father, who has played a significant role in moulding my personal and artistic identity. With the intention of capturing his impact on my identity, I decided to form a sculptural image of my Father by stacking various blocks of wood. Through the use of these geometric wooden blocks, I hope to convey the idea of resoluteness - a trait of his which manifests itself in the tough love he dispenses to me. Additionally, by stacking the wooden blocks, I aim to pay homage to the years of dedication my Father has put in to raise me, and to mirror its crucial role in constructing and nurturing my identity. Whereas, through the contrast between the black shadow casted from the sculpture and the white walls of the gallery, I aim to make the figure of my father appear prominent, distinctive and dignified.
